Instrument I'd like to be proficient in

The instrument that I would love to be able to play is upright bass. It has a fuller sound than bass guitar, and it is used in more unconventional ways. It is fretless, which makes it have a fuller sonic range. It can also be played with a string, which sound weird and cool too. My first instrument is guitar, so I learned to play instruments with frets. Fretted instruments are easier to learn on the front end, but they are limited as stated before. The first conventional rock song I'd heard using stringed upright bass is Mr. Krinkle by Primus. It has a unique, eerie sound, which I'd like to be able to replicate one day. This is the video for that song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOdo7dhvSwg
